THINGS TO DO IN PM

Puerto Morelos is a small and growing, full time and seasonal community of established locals and yearly visitors, travellers, people from Cancun and other places around Mexico opting for a slower paced life by the Caribbean. The town is a safe-haven for those looking for a less saturated travel experience. Quiet beaches, low-key nights and lots of family-owned businesses. A small-town charm that will make you feel welcome and at ease.

Read our list of things to do below for some quick ideas for local activities.

WEDNESDAY MARKET

Weekly local market of food, beverages, artists, and others, getting together to sell their unique goods! Make sure to check it out by the church in the downtown port.

BOTANICAL GARDEN

Lush garden with palms, cacti & other plants, plus a walking trail to an ancient Mayan site. This place, while shouldn’t be “hyped up” too much, is actually quite spectacular and very worthwhile. Open from 8am to 4pm (they actually close down at 7pm)

CROCOCUN

Open from 9 am to 5pm, this animal zoo-sanctuary is most known for its protection of crocodiles, but you can also see and touch deer, snakes, parrots, monkeys and native wild dogs. It includes a nice cafe to have lunch or refreshments and interactive tours where a guide will walk you through.

Just a short 10 min walk toward downtown, you’ll find the cutest little gelato shop serving many flavors of ice cream as well as baked good and delicious coffee too! Website

EXPLORE LA RUTA DE LOS CENOTES

Puerto Morelos is located only 10 min away from La Ruta De Los Cenotes, which translates to the route of the cenotes. Which is a several kilometer long road with many different options of places to visit with natural swimming holes, of all sizes and varieties. Some of our favorites are: Verde Lucero, Kin Ha, and Las Mojarras, to name a few. We recommend renting a car and venturing out on your own!

WALK NORTH & SOUTH ON THE BEACH

Whether daytime or evening, walk safely down the beach and discover all areas of Puerto Morelos. From the busy bar-restaurant zone, to the less traveled areas heading north towards Punta Caracol. Don’t forget to bring your water bottle and wear repellent if walking close to sundown!

RENT BIKES

The good thing about this small town is you can explore it all by foot. But even better, rent a bike. With bike friendly, mostly flat roads, get on a cruiser and check out all the sites, stopping where you wish.
